Hotel 101 Manila Happy Room

Today June 30, 2022, DoubleDragon Corporation’s subsidiaries DDPC Worldwide Pte. Ltd. and Hotel101 Worldwide Private Limited has executed and paid the required payment deposit in the sales contract signed today for the purchase of a prime 9,000 square meters land for its first international Hotel101 development located in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.

The upcoming Hotel101 – Niseko, in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan is expected to be patronized by local domestic travelers in Japan, and foreign tourists from other countries as well as Filipino travelers who visit Hokkaido for leisure as the site is accessible to Filipino travelers via just a few hours of flight from Manila to Sapporo New Chitose Airport.

Niseko is famous worldwide for its powder snow and Kutchan Town where the property is located in one of the foremost areas of heavy snowfall reaching 13 meters on average with some of the driest and lightest snow in the world. Because of its northern location, Niseko is internationally renowned for consistently delivering good falls of light powder snow and a long ski season that stretches from late November until early May. Hokkaido is the northmost island of Japan. During the summer Hokkaido stays cool with average temperatures of about 20 degrees celsius and is famous for its stunning nature scenes, panoramic flower fields, and hot springs.

Hotel101 rooms globally are intended to be typical or similar in size and look catering to the mid-end market, enabling a highly efficient booking process and allowing guests to know exactly what to expect in a Hotel101 wherever it may be located. The concept patent of Hotel101’s pioneering condotel concept has already been filed and the Hotel101 trademark and country-specific domains have been secured in various countries globally. The Hotel101 App for both Apple iOS and Android that is designed to efficiently work in multi countries is currently being developed.

Hotel101 adopts dynamic pricing on its room rates similar to airline tickets where its room price moves up and down depending on the real-time supply and demand on the chosen date of booking.

The Hotel101 concept allows DoubleDragon to generate revenue and income twice, first from the pre-selling of the Happy Room units, then second after the project is constructed it generates long-term recurring revenue from hotel operations.

Hotel101-Manila in full-year 2021 achieved an average occupancy rate of 96.03%.

DoubleDragon envisions the homegrown Filipino Hotel101 brand to become world-class in all standards and create job opportunities for Filipinos who reside in the Philippines or abroad, and also aims to bring a pinch of pride and honor to each and every Filipino from anywhere around the world where it may eventually locate and operate.

Yes, the Filipino can.

DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco receives warm welcome from employees, vows to bring “LGU perspective” to DOT

Incoming Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco on Monday (June 27) visited the Department of Tourism (DOT) Central Office in Makati, where she received a warm welcome from the Department's employees—represented by its Employees Association (DOTEA)—and officials, including Undersecretaries, Assistant Secretaries, Heads of Attached Agencies, and Directors.

Team Out of Town Hub (www.OutofTownBlog.com) – Incoming Tourism Chief Christina Garcia-Frasco will bank on her extensive local government experience and perspective to make the country’s tourism industry “a major pillar” for economic recovery and resiliency.

Frasco made the pronouncement on Monday (June 27), as she visited the Department of Tourism Central Office in Makati—where she received a warm welcome from the Department’s employees and officials who committed their full support to the Secretary-designate.

“I look forward to giving truth to President-elect Bongbong Marcos’ vision for the tourism industry to become a major pillar for economic recovery and resilience. I look forward as well to examining all of the plans and programs that have already been set in place, as well as presenting new additions and innovations to the successful programs, all with a cohesive vision of not only bringing back the Philippines to its standing in the global stage but uplifting our country to its full potential to occupy a primary position globally—that is the birthright of every Filipino,”

Christina Garcia-Frasco DOT Secretary

Before her role as the new Secretary of Tourism, Frasco has served as Mayor of Liloan, Cebu since June 2016. A multi-awarded local chief executive, Frasco was also rated as the Top Performing Mayor in Central Visayas in the same year and is also the National Vice President of the League of Municipalities. Under Frasco’s leadership, the Municipality of Liloan became a four-time recipient of an “Unqualified Opinion’, the highest audit rating given by the Commission on Audit (CoA).

The incoming Secretary also shared her initial strategies for her term, one of which is employing a multidimensional approach to tourism, where focus for development is not only on natural resources but also on the promotion of people and products, as well as a strong national and local government collaboration.

Ahead of her appointment as Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary and the youngest member of the Cabinet so far under the incoming administration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco on Monday (June 27) paid a visit to the DOT Central Office in Makati City to meet with the Department's top officials.
Ahead of her appointment as Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary and the youngest member of the Cabinet so far under the incoming administration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco on Monday (June 27) paid a visit to the DOT Central Office in Makati City to meet with the Department’s top officials.

“I believe that national and local government cooperation is imperative for our tourism plans and programs to succeed because we all know that if we uplift the economic status of one LGU, and translate that to the over 1,400 plus municipalities, 81 provinces, and over a hundred cities across the country, uplifting each of their economies will uplift the economy of our nation as a whole. It is this inclusive, sustainable, innovative, and collaborative tourism governance that I intend to bring to the Department of Tourism,” explained Frasco.

Frasco, who met with the department’s regional directors for the first time, disclosed that her administration intends to capture not just foreign tourists, but also domestic tourists to help revive and revitalize the tourism industry. The Cebuana lawyer admits that she considers her home province special, but assured stakeholders that other destinations, particularly Mindanao, will likewise be developed and promoted as tourism destinations.

“Of course, my heart has a special place for Cebu where I’m from but at the same time I’m keenly aware that in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao and the over 7,000 islands in our archipelagic country, there is a wealth of opportunity as far as developing other tourist destinations. We have a general vision that is set by our President to revitalize the tourism industry, and to ensure that it is inclusive in that we spread development to the countryside. And this means giving focus to all regions in the Philippines,” Frasco enthused.

“The Mindanao region has some of the most beautiful destinations that our country has. By exerting extra effort on the part of the Department of Tourism to reach out to this region, to exert the services, the talents, the expertise of the members of the Department to ensure that the stakeholders receive the appropriate training, promotion and marketability that they deserve. I intend to be judged not by my words but by my work. And we will work hard to help Mindanao rise to its full potential,” added Frasco.

In terms of changes to the industry amid the rising COVID-19 cases, Frasco commits to working towards striking a balance between the lives and the livelihood of Filipinos, going back to her experience as a local leader in Cebu.

“If we continue to allow ourselves to be shackled by the fear of the pandemic, rather than revising our perspective to learn how to live with this virus in a manner that is responsible and conscious of health protocols, then not only lives will be lost, but livelihoods as well. When people lose their livelihoods and are left hungry and without opportunities for the income they may lose their lives as well. So it’s very important to strike a balance between lives and livelihood,” explained the incoming tourism chief.

Moreover, Frasco noted the need to examine whether there should be a liberalization of existing health and safety protocols to revitalize the tourism industry, citing the recent move of Singapore and other neighboring countries to lift the mask mandate for outdoor areas.

“I defer to the wisdom of both the current and the incoming administration as far as the maintenance or liberalization of health protocols is concerned. I only wish to bring to the attention of the necessary decision-makers, the necessity of balancing life and livelihood and examining closely the health and safety protocols that will serve best the preservation of not just life but also the economy and the how best we can proceed that can promote and not further derail the tourism destinations within our country,” said Frasco.

MPIC Forays Into Agri Investments Partners with Carmen’s Best Group

Team Out of Town Hub (www.OutofTownBlog.com) – Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (“MPIC”), the country’s leading infrastructure investments company, announced today that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Carmen’s Best Dairy Products, Inc., Carmen’s Best International Dairy Company, Inc., Real Fresh Dairy Farms, Inc., and The Laguna Creamery, Inc. (collectively, the “Carmen’s Best Group”) to further develop and expand the operations of its dairy farm and dairy products manufacturing facilities.

Under the partnership, the Carmen’s Best Group will integrate its assets and operations into The Laguna Creamery, Inc. (“TLCI”), with MPIC owning a 51% equity interest in TLCI and the Carmen’s Best Group retaining a 49% equity interest.

MPIC Forays Into Agri Investments Partners with Carmen’s Best Group
MPIC Forays Into Agri Investments Partners with Carmen’s Best Group

The Carmen’s Best Group is behind the home-grown premium ice cream brand, Carmen’s Best Ice Cream, and the country’s only locally pasteurized and homogenized fresh milk, Holly’s Milk. It produces yogurt and artisanal cheeses under the Carmen’s Best Natural Cheese and Holly’s brands.

Earlier this year, MPIC announced that it is seeking to ramp up investments in the agricultural sector and reduce the country’s dependence on food imports amid ongoing global supply chain disruptions and high inflation. This transaction presents a significant growth opportunity for MPIC and the Philippines, as the country currently imports 99% of its annual dairy requirements.

“The agricultural sector presents a wide range of possibilities that can help us achieve several goals –to strengthen the food supply chain and augment the accessibility of resources for all Filipinos as well as provide more opportunities for growth in an otherwise underserved business. Ultimately, the country should aim for substantial independence in food. And we must feed our people first,” says MPIC Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Manuel V. Pangilinan.

MPIC and Carmen’s Best Group envision transforming TLCI into a fully integrated dairy business, serving local demand and eventually competing globally. “Carmen’s Best has always had family at the heart of its brand – from the humble beginnings of my father and his friend’s dairy farming project to the touch of creativity I added to turn it into a modest ice cream business,” said Francisco “Paco” Delgado Magsaysay. “This union makes us appreciative that MPIC sees the value of what we already built, while also elevating Carmen’s Best to a level beyond what we envisioned.”

The transaction values the Carmen’s Best Group at PHP288M and is conditional upon customary regulatory confirmation and approvals.

This venture in agribusiness affirms MPIC’s resolve to be the largest catalyst for a Sustainable Philippines to contribute to national progress and help improve the lives of Filipinos. It is also aligned with the Company’s efforts to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), particularly Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

About MPIC

MPIC is a leading Philippine company with investments in power, toll roads, water, transportation, healthcare, and real estate.

The Company seeks to create long-term value for all its stakeholders through responsible and sustainable investments that contribute to national progress and improve the quality of life in the communities it serves.

MPIC and its group of companies are making a difference in the lives of millions of Filipinos, powering commerce and households, connecting people and places, delivering clean and safe water, and making world-class healthcare available to all.

Team Out of Town Hub (www.OutofTownBlog.com) – The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) has partnered with the Harley Owners Group (HOG) with their PH Ride With Purpose campaign bringing various motorcycle groups together at Mauban, Quezon on June 25 to raise funds for the tree planting and eco-park development project of the organization in Pangasinan.

Philippine Motorcycle Tourism

Launched in November 2021, TPB, with the Department of Tourism (DOT), launched the Philippine Motorcycle Tourism (PMT) program to stimulate domestic tourism and capitalize on the country’s scenic views enjoyed by several motorcycle groups. To date, TPB and several DOT Regional Offices are building PMT circuits as a new set of tourism products targeting millions of motorcycle enthusiasts and riders across the globe.

“We continue to push the limits to create new ways to enjoy safe travel because we know that traveling and adventure give us purpose and new perspectives. The success of the PMT program exemplifies the demand for exploring the country on two wheels and presenting an alternative way of traveling to entice the public to discover more of the Philippines’ interesting culture, sites, cuisines, and other tourism products,” said TPB COO Maria Anthonette Velasco-Allones.

The very first PH Ride with a Purpose event by HOG Manila Chapter enlists more than 2,000 motorcycle riders and enthusiasts gathered to rally for responsible motorcycle riding and promote the Quezon province as an adventure and culinary tourism destination.

Bringing the “Sturgis” motorcycle rally experience in the Philippines, the event showcased activities such as skills demonstration, test rides, safety riding skills training, local delicacies food tasting, and local tourism promotion, among others.

“We are beyond grateful that this partnership with TPB pushes through as we work hand-in-hand to intensify domestic tourism, promote safe motorcycle riding, and advocate for environmental stewardship. Together, let us all ride with a purpose and make history in Quezon,” said Harley Owners Group Manila Chapter President Rizalino Roxas.

Moreover, the event provided an opportunity to promote Quezon as a tourist destination for fun and safe motorcycle riding, with diverse tourist attractions such as heritage churches, burgeoning farm attractions, pristine beaches, and a wide array of cuisines and delicacies. The province is also gaining interest with farm-to-table experience that offers a unique gastronomic experience that is a must-try for every traveler.

To date, the TPB has successfully organized ride events in CALABARZON, Central Luzon, and Bicol Regions in close coordination with DOT regional offices. The recently concluded #ExcitingBicol PMT Ride was held simultaneously in the provinces of Albay (Mayon 360 Ride), Sorsogon (Countryside Ride), Camarines Sur (Naga City Ride), and culminated in Catanduanes for the Happy Island 360 Ride that covered 11 municipalities and highlighted the province-wide celebration of this year’s Abaca Festival.

Manila, Philippines – Work in city government offices in Manila is suspended on Thursday, June 30, 2022. Mayor Isko Moreno declared the special non-working holiday to give the Manila residents the full opportunity to witness and welcome this significant event in the life of the nation.

The City Mayor of Manila, by virtue of the power vested by law, declares June 30, 2022, a special non-working holiday throughout the City of Manila as well as the Manila Police District and all law enforcement officers, including barangay officials, to strictly adopt and implement security measures on said date.

It was 12 years ago when President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo issued Proclamation 2085 which designated June 30, 2010, as a special non-working holiday. That was when the former Senator Benigno Aquino III was inaugurated as the republic’s next president.

The suspension of classes and work in Manila Government offices also aims to provide safety and convenience to the students and government employees.

The expo will also showcase the Philippines’ readiness to welcome dive tourists from all over the globe, gathering local and international dive industry experts, dive tour operators, and partner dive businesses to share their ideas and experiences.

“The entry of international travelers is a welcome development that will lead to growth in the travel and tourism sector, restoration of jobs, and the generation of much-needed revenue for tourism-related enterprises and communities. We are optimistic that these economic benefits will also extend to dive destinations around the country. The country remains a leading dive destination, which tourists all over the world are eager to visit after a long wait of two years,” said Tourism Development Undersecretary Woodrow C. Maquiling, Jr.

“The DOT hopes to encourage divers to practice sustainability every time they dive to preserve the country’s seas. Sustainable diving practices are a huge part of the reason why the country’s dive destinations continue to operate despite challenges brought by the pandemic,” Undersecretary Maquiling added.

PHIDEX is the only dive show in the world that combines in one event a Dive Travel Exchange (TRAVEX), a business-to-business (B2B) meeting program for local and international dive operators, dive conferences,s and seminars, and familiarization tours to the top and emerging Philippine dive destinations. Exhibition booths will showcase dive resorts and centers in different destinations and top-rated dive gear and equipment.

Through conferences, participants will also have a chance to learn about new dive destinations developed during the pandemic, product updates from key dive destinations, as well as up-to-date underwater photography gear showcases. International dive operators will also get to inspect and assess top and emerging dive destinations such as Anilao, Bohol, Camiguin, Coron, Dumaguete, Malapascua, Moalboal, and Puerto Galera, Southern Leyte, and Ticao Island through familiarization tours.

At least 100 local and international dive buyers and media from the Philippines, US, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Korea, Japan, Thailand, and Singapore, are expected to attend the expo. Meanwhile, activities such as Dive TRAVEX and Dive Conference will be accessible online for participants unable to attend due to international border restrictions.

Registration as consumer and trade visitors and exhibition booth reservations will open on June 24, 2022, through https://register.phidex.asia/. Team Out of Town Hub (www.OutofTownBlog.com) – To celebrate this year’s Philippine Environment Month, the Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) has partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in a tree planting activity on June 23 at the NPF 9.5-hectare property, the Entertainment City, in Parañaque.

Employees of the NPF, DENR’s Biodiversity, and Forest Management Bureaus have planted more than 100 trees with different saplings from Ipil-Ipil, Tindalo, Yakal, Makaasim, Phil Ash, Lipote, Palawan Cherry, Dita, Batino to Bignay.

Advancing this year’s theme – “Aksyon Para sa Natatanging Mundo” highlights the collaborative efforts between the two agencies to provide a healthy and breathable environment for future generations. The said planting activity coincided with Proclamation No. 237, declaring the month of June as Philippine Environment Month, aimed at instilling environmental awareness and concern among the country’s various sectors.

Speaking on behalf of NPF Executive Director Gertie Duran-Batocabe, NPF Deputy Executive Director for Marketing and Operations Dr. Jovertlee C. Pudan emphasized the Foundation’s advocacy for a greener environment and nature conservation through Project Sambayanihan.

“This initiative aims to transform this 9.5-hectare property into an urban green space by planting more than 400 trees this year by promoting a participatory approach through partnerships with other government agencies,” he said.

Last March, NPF partnered with the Armed Forces of the Philippines in planting flowering trees in honor of the Philippines Women’s Month. In May, NPF teamed up with the Department of Health to promote Mental Health awareness by creating greener spaces in the Metro Manila.

An Environmental Planner, Dr. Pudan reiterated that we should plant more trees to make real change.

“When we conserve the environment today, the future generations will be able to live healthier lives,” he said.

Team Out of Town Hub (www.OutofTownBlog.com) – Just recently, Cebu Pacific Air, the country’s leading airline, operated a mobile game-themed flight to introduce Tencent Games PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) MOBILE’s newest IP, Phoenix Adarna. An airport and in-flight experience featuring Adarna-inspired costumes, trivia games, and merchandise giveaways made the flight the first of its kind in Southeast Asian aviation history.

PUBG MOBILE players will embark on a series of heroic missions inspired by the Philippine mythological bird Adarna, the fabled creature that heals all ailments. Players must complete missions within a time limit to unlock rewards or purchase in-game currency to become invincible like Adarna, and dress in eye-catching items such as Agent Phoenix Set backpacks, a frame, parachute, and even acquire a buggy. The flight replicates the adventure a hero undergoes in search of this famed fowl.

“We are excited to create this one-of-a-kind experience for our passengers, and the PUBG MOBILE gaming community. As a proudly Filipino carrier, we continue to look for fun ways to promote Philippine culture and tourism. We anticipated this to be the first of several collaborations with industry partners such as Tencent Games,” said Candice Iyog, CEB VP for Marketing and Customer Experience.

Benj Dalmacio, Senior Business Development Manager for PUBG MOBILE Philippines echoes this excitement for this first-of-its-kind collaboration in the Philippines and Southeast Asia: “In PUBG MOBILE, we continue to make the game relevant to our target audience: young adults. The Ibong Adarna, our country’s very own phoenix, symbolizes hope and rebirth and holds a significant place in Philippine literature. We are proud for our platform to become a place of appreciation and learning of Filipino culture as well as helping in promoting the Philippine tourism industry. We are honored to partner with the country’s leading airline as they recognize the growing gaming community and live up to their fun brand.”

Gaming video creators Rojean Delos Reyes and Dexie Diaz represented PUBG MOBILE and Cebu Pacific as official campaign ambassadors. Both known in their gaming circles as adventurous and passionate, the ladies embody the fiery spirit of the Phoenix Adarna.

PUBG MOBILE will blast a special seat sale exclusively communicated to the Filipino gaming community and raffle free domestic and international round-trip flights, courtesy of Cebu Pacific, in various community events throughout June.

Aside from Cebu, tourist destination favorite Boracay will be the venue of offline events, with the appearance of a pop-up gaming truck for a battle royale game with top PUBG MOBILE players and meet-and-greets. The island will also become the nesting place of Phoenix Adarna, with tourists spotting from afar tour boats, parasails, giant sandcastles, beach flags, kayaks, and gliders bearing the theme.

CEB continues to offer its guaranteed low fares to stimulate travel across its widest domestic network, with multiple flights to top Philippine destinations, such as Boracay and Cebu, operating 16x daily from Manila. It continues to implement a multi-layered approach to safety, while it operates with a 100%

fully vaccinated crew, 95% of whom have been boosted – all to ensure every Juan flies safely and conveniently on Cebu Pacific. For more information, visit www.cebupacificair.com.

Phoenix Adarna items, with their bright plumage, will be available for PUBG MOBILE gamers until June 30.

PUBG MOBILE is available for free on the App Store and Google Play Store.
