Team Out of Town Blog Hub (Outoftownblog.com) – Philippine Airlines (PAL) marks its 81st anniversary with a stronger commitment to fly forward as a renewed flag carrier, better positioned to bring passengers to more exciting destinations locally and globally as the world opens up for tourism once again.
To revive wanderlust and confidence in traveling, PAL will be working closely with the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines, the marketing and promotions arms of the Department of Tourism (DOT), in assuring travelers that the tourism industry is ready to welcome them and is well equipped with all the needed safety measures and health protocols.
As part of its anniversary celebration, PAL and TPB organized an 8-day familiarization tour (fam tour) with a group of media and social influencers to rediscover well-loved island destinations – Boracay, Aklan; Cebu City, and Coron, Palawan. The tour puts a spotlight on TPB recommended attractions, activities, and experiences that echo how #itsmorefuninthephilippines and #ItsMoreFunWithYou.
In Boracay, the tour was highlighted by an up-close and personal experience of the world-famous Philippine sunset via a relaxing cruise, while in Cebu, the group toured scenic spots along Transcentral Highway. In Coron, participants were captivated by its majestic islands, cerulean waters, and limestone cliffs.
Maria Anthonette C. Velasco-Allones, TPB Chief Operating Officer expressed “With more than half of the population vaccinated and mobility restrictions have eased, we aim to highlight that we can all enjoy fun and safe travels once again. We believe that there is pent-up demand for leisure trips and the summer months have always been a peak season. The fam tour is but a sneak peek of the fun experiences local tourists can explore when they visit around the Philippines.”
PAL Vice President for Marketing, Ria C. Domingo said, “We’re very happy to celebrate PAL’s 81st Anniversary and showcase that we have emerged as a renewed airline that can fly passengers to the best destinations in the country and the world. Kudos to TPB for supporting this initiative.”
On top of the fam tour, PAL will also be showcasing Philippine tourism destination videos in the in-flight entertainment of international flights, promoting the country to a global audience.
Ms. Ria Domingo furthered that more collaborations from PAL and TPB can also be expected. “As the world reopens, we will bring our A-game as we can expect a tough competition between countries for tourists. Together with DOT through the TPB, and other tourism stakeholders, we will invest in intensive campaigns and promotions attracting visitors to fly to and around the archipelago for unique and indelible travel memories.”
PAL has already started to introduce more than 1,500 additional flights- an expansion of more than 52% systemwide and a clear vote of confidence in the strength of the economic rebound and the revival of leisure tourism and business travel. With this, PAL expects its Manila hub can potentially reach pre-COVID 19 levels by April this year.
At 81, PAL is stronger and bent on continuing its service to the country as the national flag carrier.

Team Out of Town Blog Hub (Outoftownblog.com) – Artist Network and wellness lifestyle brand Grounded is launching the second part of their exhibition series entitled States of Cadence II.
In partnership with Art Fair Philippines, States of Cadence II is a multi-sensory exhibit on timelessness and infinite evolution of the human spirit, through connection, compassion, and engagement with the natural world.
Grounded is known for their support of grassroots and emerging artists. The arts and wellness platform aims to showcase their works through a holistic approach, reinventing the experience, for both artist and collector, through the practice of innovative and dynamic ways people discover and purchase artwork.
Whereas States of Cadence Exhibit I was presented solely online, for States of Cadence II, Grounded has partnered with Karrera Showroom, a vintage car showroom, and cafe based in Alabang for its physical space.
The exhibition features paintings, prints, tapestries, photographs, and other mixed media works that bear witness to the Grounded Artist Network’s ongoing artistic investigation into various shades of time intersperesed with cadence – a natural rhythm, a frequency that the artists coalesce with to truly express themselves.
Offering an intimate portrayal of boundless beauty through art, States of Cadence II features the work of 20 artists from the Grounded Artist Network Program, presenting insights that transcend boundaries by introducing both specific and expanded narratives of various states of evolution through the lens of timelessness.
New acquisitions on view for the first time include photographs from featured artist, French photographer Camille Robiou Du Pont whose work knits together sensory journeys of the wild woman through water surface, depths, island ecology, freedom, dreams and rootedness in duality–all under the umbrella of cosmic elements reveling in the beauty and prowess of the Divine feminine.
In line with this, Maddie Camcam’s striking work radiates with vibrant themes of feminine strength, grace, and sisterhood, whereas Lucia Fischer also explores themes of feminism and female identity, however focusing on destabilizing ideas concerning the “male gaze” and gender rhetorics that have dominated cultural perceptions and traditions throughout the human timeline.
Painter and illustrator Ana Abigail dedicates her floral series on fragility to loved ones lost to the pandemic, as captured in her exploration of color in oil on round canvases.
Toph Camcam’s pieces invigorate the soul as a visual feast, as much as they are based on food as a celebration of humanity and reflection of identity and culture.
This selection from the Grounded Artist Network, among many other intricately curated works, invites the viewer to explore the intricate, labyrinthine systems and states of being, and the reparative role that art and compassion play within these systems.
States of Cadence II launched at Karrera on March 23, 2022, at Karrera, and will run until April 1, 2022, alongside exciting events including a wellness workshop, film night, watch showcase, and fundraiser for schools in Siargao Island affected by Typhoon Odette. A portion of the proceeds from the exhibition are dedicated to Grounded’s partner beneficiary, Oceanus Conservation.
States of Cadence II is now available for viewing at the @artfairph website (https://bit.ly/3D9GGc0). For purchasing inquiries and more information, follow @groundedph or email contact@groundedph.com.
Typhoon Odette Fundraiser
“On December 16, 2021 Typhoon Odette struck the Philippines and Siargao Island was one of the most devastated places destroying homes. wanted to take the opportunity of being a part of Art Fair Philippines to raise awareness and funds for Siargao, as it is a place that Grounded is deeply rooted in. We have a number of artists that were based in Siargao, and the devastation really hit close to home. Our featured artist for States of Cadence at AFP,Camille Robiou du Ponttook these eerily beautiful photos of the destruction of Typhoon Odette, which is the centerfold and inspiration of the fundraiser that will be exhibited at the fair.” – Marika Manglapus-Ledesma
In light of recent events surrounding the devastation brought about by Typhoon Odette, Grounded has partnered with Oceanus Conservation and continues its commitment to ocean advocacy by raising funds for the rebuilding of schools in Siargao Island. The exhibit features Camille’s eerily arresting photos of the destruction of Typhoon Odette, as well as her portraits engraved on wood by Siargao local artist Niko Kanar.

In a bid to further promote the various destinations in the country and fast-track tourism recovery, the Department of Tourism (DOT) launches “7641 Islands of the Philippines”, a digital magazine that will provide readers travel inspiration and information.
The tourism circuits that the different regional offices of the DOT have developed, as part of the tourism recovery program, take center stage in the digital magazine. Among the featured circuits are the Bike Trails of Bicol and Central Visayas, Camiguin and Misamis Oriental’s Green Adventure Loop, Davao’s Dive Tourism, Boracay Food Crawl, SOCCSKSARGEN’s Farm Tours, and the Interregional Cuisine and Culture of Ilocos, Central Luzon, and Cordillera.
7641, which is part of DOT’s philippines.travel website, supplies travel information through feature articles that provide detailed itineraries, suggested activities with accompanying reminders for a safe adventure, and interesting stories for each place.
“In 7641, we go in-depth into the stories of a destination, a cultural tradition, a dish, a personal affiliation to a place, while also providing the basic information you need as a traveler,” said Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat.
This will also feature more of those destinations that are lesser-known but are equally stunning as the country’s popular tourist sites, like Marinduque’s white sand beaches, the healing island of Siquijor, the caves and paragliding sites of Nueva Vizcaya, the pink sand beaches of Zamboanga City, among others.
“We want to promote all tourist destinations in the archipelago that have already reopened to visitors. Each month, we will highlight different places so that the public can discover the marvelous sites that our 7,641 islands can offer,” said Puyat.
The DOT invited feature and non-fiction writers, some of whom traveled to the destinations themselves, for more immersive writing. The DOT also collaborated with regional creatives, including SinoPinas and Playground Films of Zamboanga City, to document the sites and motivate people to travel through images and videos.
Also featured are collaborations with writers like multi-awarded poet and novelist Edgar Calabia Samar, author of Janus Silang; Palanca awardee Joyce Roque; and MJ Tumamac, Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino’s 2019 Poet of the Year.
7641 Islands of the Philippines
The microsite’s name was inspired by the number of islands in the Philippines. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), has an ongoing islands inventory.
Based on the preliminary results of the inventory conducted by NAMRIA in 2013, the latest islands count that was announced is 7,641.
Everyone is invited to discover the country’s islands and be updated on your next travel inspirations and bucket lists. Visit 7641islands.ph.
