With the arrival of the realme 9 Pro Plus, many consumers have been enthralled by this rising star in the mid-range segment. It’s because it’s jam-packed with tons of cool features. This is why it has been dubbed a “killer midrange phone” by some tech experts. But how does it stack up against other smartphones on the market today, such as other Realme phones and those made by other brands?

Remarkable Camera Resolution

We’ve already discussed in previous posts how the 9 Pro Plus’s snapper is chock-full of awesome features. We have discussed, for example, the fact that it is equipped with the nifty Sony IMX766, which allows users to capture more visually stunning photographs. This is especially useful for those who consider themselves travelers and are always on the move and want to capture images of their travels.

In this category, Realme’s new baby outperforms the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, which has a higher camera resolution, particularly on the rear camera. For example, the Realme 9 Pro+ has a 50 MP primary camera and a 16 MP front-facing shooter, whereas the Samsung has a 12 MP primary sensor but a 32 MP front-facing shooter. When the two are compared, the Realme 9 Pro+ appears to be the winner in this bracket.

In addition, the Realme 9 Pro+ has a better rear camera than the Oppo Reno 7 Pro. Furthermore, the former employs the Sony IMX766 with an OIS feature. However, the Reno 7 Pro’s selfie camera, which has a resolution of 32 MP, outshines the Realme 9 Pro+’s, which has a resolution of 16 MP.

Battery and Charging Performance

In this category, it’s worth contrasting the Realme 9 Pro+ with its sibling, the 9 Pro. The Pro+ model will have a 4,500 mAh battery and a 60W SuperDart charge. On the other hand, the Pro variant comes with a larger battery, 5,000 mAh, but only a 33W Dart Charge. This means that if you want faster-charging speed, especially if you’re always on the go, the 9 Pro+ is a wiser choice than its sibling.

Thickness and Weight

The Realme 9 Pro Plus weighs in at 182 grams. In comparison to the Realme GT model, it is noticeably lighter. When it comes to thickness, the 9 Pro Plus is slightly thinner (7.99 mm) than the GT model (8.4 mm). So, if you want a thin and light phone, the 9 Pro Plus is a good option.

Excellent Display

What is also notable about the Realme 9 Pro Plus is that it has a Super AMOLED display, as opposed to competitors’ IPS LCD displays, such as what is present on the Realme 9i. However, both the 9 Pro Plus and 9i have 1080 x 2412 pixel Full HD+ displays, with the 9i (6.6 inches) having a slightly larger screen than the 9 Pro+ (6.4 inches). But if I had to choose, I’d go with the 9 Pro Plus.

When compared to other phones on the market today, the 9 Pro Plus is among those at the top of the list. Designed for photographers and content creators

Together with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and AI Noise Reduction Engine 3.0, the device addresses common factors that could make or break any shot taken in low light: camera sensor size, lighting conditions, and movement.

In addition, the realme 9 Pro+ is equipped with a Triple Camera setup consisting of the main 50MP lens, an 8MP 119-degree ultra-wide angle lens, and a 2MP 4cm macro lens to cater to any photography need. The realme 9 Pro also packs this setup for its rear but with a 64MP main shooter.

Both devices are also designed with Street Photography 2.0 which has a new Smart Long Exposure feature with various modes to help take long-exposure shots with ease. Other features such as a new 90’s Pop Filter and Peak and Zoom capability are also included.

The realme 9 Pro+ and the realme 9 Pro also boast other topnotch features in addition to their photography component. This enticing getaway has become more exciting with the introduction of an adventure sport that has been in the sidelights for quite some time—sailing.

The vast Albay Gulf, which embraces the seaboard of Albay, became a huge watersport playground with the Exciting Bicol Oz Goose National Championships held recently at the Legazpi City Boulevard.

The two-day sailfest is organized by the Philippine Home Boatbuilders Yacht Club (PHBYC) and the Albay Yacht Club (AYC), with the support of DOT Region 5 and the Legazpi City Government.

“Bicol has been gaining in popularity with watersports enthusiasts, wakeboarders, surfers, paddlers, scuba divers and now, sailors. Its natural beauty is its main appeal, and the people’s warm hospitality in embracing watersports enhances its natural charm,” says DOT regional director Herbie Aguas.

He noted that the sailing event is a part of the DOT’s Exciting Restart program which is a reboot of the region’s tourism industry which was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

A sports enthusiast, Aguas said that the tournament kindled community interest in the sport and prompted the search for other potential sailing spots in the nearby provinces.

The Oz Goose is a 12-foot long wind-powered sailboat with a 14-foot mast and crewed by two persons. It is cheap and easy to assemble and is ideal for women, youth, children, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Introduced in the Philippines in 2015, there are about 100 Oz Goose boats locally, with 12 of them at the AYC.

Oz Goose sailing started in 2021 and has gained popularity among youths in Legazpi’s coastal villages, largely through the efforts of city councilor Fernand Imperial, who is also the commodore of the AYC.

According to Imperial, the club aims to expand the number of the sailing community through the conduct of boat-building activities with the support of government agencies, tourism establishments, private entities, and individual enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, Legazpi mayor Noel Rosal said that with Albay Gulf’s challenging winds and the breath-taking view of Mayon Volcano, sailing will be another exciting activity in the City of Fun and Adventure.

Now on its fourth edition, the National Championships is the first to be held outside its home base at the Taal Lake Yacht Club, with over 100 sailors taking part and was met by the warm crowd reception.

The two-day competition was topped by the tandem of Fernan Sarmiento and Miguel Jose Magsaysay of Subic Sailing which bested 33 other teams.

The tandems of Nicko Boyano and Sorlano Boyano, and Zoren Boyano and Rhenalyn Boyano, all members of the Philippine Sailing Association captured the second and third honors.

Other winners were twins Jonalyn and Jonabel Parocha, also of the PSA, who emerged first place in the women’s category, while Cherrie Pinpin and Joshua Barcelon topped the Sailability division for PWDs.

Completing the winning circle is Jazmine Lucero who had the best finish in the B-Fleet.

The Exciting Bicol Oz Goose Nationals is also supported by Kress Philippines, Toyota Albay, Hyde Sails Cebu, Imperial Homes, Pacific Blue Dive Center; hotel partners Proxy by The Oriental, Legazpi Oceanfront Hostel, Hotel Sentro, and RRCG Transport as an official carrier.
