Mobile Number Portability: How does it work?

Team Out of Town Blog Hub (www.outoftownblog.com) – Mobile users are in a treat because you can now switch to other networks without changing your numbers. You can still use your existing phone number starting September 30, thanks to the Mobile Number Portability law.

If you want to switch to a different network, don’t worry; changing network providers is free. This is because of compliance with the Republic Act 11202 or the Mobile Number Portability Act, Mobile Number Portability (MNP) that gives mobile phone users the freedom to choose their telco service provider conveniently and seamlessly. It also helps promote consumer welfare as it fosters the freedom to select and respond to quality, price, and other relevant considerations.

Smart

According to Smart’s official website, you can now visit the nearest Smart Store to request your Intra MNP Application. You can also start applying for external MNP (Dito and Globe porting in to SMART) starting September 30, 2021. According to Smart, there will be a maximum of 4 hours of service interruption (no voice, SMS & data) to complete the activation of your new subscription. For Internal Porting, your MVP Rewards will be retained.

Just take note that you can only apply if your mobile number is active and has no unpaid account charges.

Before visiting the store, make sure to bring the following:

  • Any Valid ID
  • Proof of Ownership of SIM (For Prepaid only).

Any of the following:

  • The original SIM Bed/Jacket of your Prepaid SIM;
  • The original PUK Slip of your Prepaid SIM;
  • A copy of an Official Receipt issued by SMART with your Prepaid Mobile Number;
  • Successful login to MySmart Web or MyPLDTSmart App or GigaLife App; or PayMaya account linked to Mobile Number (Account must be linked to Paymaya for 3 months or more).

Standard Postpaid Application Requirements (For Postpaid only).

Globe

Globe was the first one to start their internal porting last April 21. Before visiting your nearest Globe store, make sure to prepare the following:

  • An active SIM or mobile number
  • No financial obligations or remaining balances from your previous postpaid bill
  • No porting request in the last 60 days
  • No record of fraudulent activity

How does mobile number portability work?

After applying to your current network, you will be receiving a 9-digit unique subscriber code. After that, the originating network will be receiving a porting authorization request from the receiving network. The request should be processed in 24 hours. Finally, the receiving network should provide and activate the new sim within 24 hours.

It will also take about 60 days before you’re allowed to request another transfer. There is also no limit to the number of times one can switch between telcos.

Team Out of Town Blog Hub (www.outoftownblog.com) – Chat Fores, one of the Philippines’ top interior designers, has always aspired to be part of a huge firm and learn how to work with groups of people handling large projects. Only six years after starting out, she had no clue it would be the beginning of her journey to being one of the most renowned names in the industry.

Chat Fores is the Principal Designer of Chat Fores Design Studio, Member of the College of Architecture and Design Advisory Board at Enderun Colleges, and recipient of three recognitions in the prestigious 2021 International Property Awards under the Asia Pacific Region.

Interior Designer Chat Fores is the Principal Designer of Chat Fores and Design Studio and a Member of the College of Architecture and Design Advisory Board at Enderun Colleges. She also holds a world-renowned mark of excellence with her recent win in the prestigious 2021 International Property Awards under the Asia Pacific Region. These recognitions include Best Residential Interior Show Home Philippines for The Galleon Residences Showroom, Best Residential Interior Apartment Philippines for JOYA Residential Unit, and Best Leisure Interior Philippines for Azure Paris Beach Club.

“I was asked to submit a project that our team designed. At that time, I felt that we were ready and submitted three options. They chose all three which we prepared submittals for. To my surprise, we won awards for all three,” she shared.

Fores began her career just after a month-long vacation in Europe with friends to celebrate their college graduation. “When I got back, I applied to an architectural firm and an interior design firm. I got accepted in both but since I wanted architectural experience, I started working for Leandro V. Locsin Partners,” she said.

A few years after joining the company, Fores began receiving offers to design model units for a developer. As a result of her efforts, the company she worked for was quite pleased with the outcome. There were 17 projects in a range of 2 to 3 years from that point on. It was her mark to start a career under her name.

“Design has to work for both client and designer, it has to be practical, beautiful, and functional. Of course, with added drama,” she explained when asked what her design principle is. She also pointed out how one’s personality can add charm to every project. “I try to add a little accent or drama in any interior either in mixed prints or texture, a dash of some bold color, a statement piece, a nice piece of artwork, or a funky piece of furniture. I try to add some of my touches and pretend that the interiors I am doing are for my own home as well. I try to put myself in the client’s place all the time.”

As a child, Fores’ design inspirations were Mica Ertegun, John Saladino, Michael Taylor, Juan Montoya, Anouska Hempel, and Sally Sirkin Lewis. Now an adult, she joins Fabio Novembre, Simone Micheli, Karim Rashid, and Santiago Calatrava to the list. “May I also add my fashion design inspirations that have given me much desire in my interior world as well: Christian Lacroix, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and John Galliano.”

Her first big tower project, the Gramercy Residences in Century City Makati, would be Fores’ most memorable. It was Fores who conceived of the condominium’s magnificent lobby and its four stories of amenities. “We were given a lot of spaces to work on with a great concept.”

Fores shares that her most ideal approach to interior design during these times of COVID-19 would be to confirm with the clients’ needs. “From there, it’s important to work on the new considerations in keeping a space or interior COVID-free—finishes and materials that are antibacterial, hands-free fixtures, easy to clean finishes, distancing in layouts, and more depending on the kind of space that you are given to design be it residential or commercial.”

As a Member of the Advisory Board for the College of Architecture and Design at Enderun Colleges, Fores advises that in keeping with the evolution of structure, interior design must adapt as well, especially at present where we’re spending almost all our time at home. With these considerations in mind, it is necessary to evolve, alter, and make our spaces more functional without jeopardizing our home’s purpose.

Time is also a key factor when earning a degree in interior design. She recommends students devote more time to research, reading more books, magazines, and researching other design ideas because these will aid them in comprehending finishing, styling, decor, and the various materials required. “Use this time to practice drawing, sketching, and establishing your own personal style.”

5 Ways Young Professionals Can Boost Immune System this Pandemic

Ways to Help Boost Young Professionals’ Immune System

Team Out of Town Blog Hub (www.outoftownblog.com) – Our immune system is our best defense against the COVID-19 virus. Though having a strong immune system cannot prevent you from getting the virus, it can help fight common infections and illnesses such as colds or flu. It’s also more likely that if you have a weak immune system, you might be able to get a severe COVID-19 infection.

Adults with a 9 to 5 job sometimes don’t get an active lifestyle due to their busy schedules. Squeezing time to work out can be a bit impossible, which often leads to more stress. More stress can lead to a weak immune system. And this is why it’s important to be healthier than ever.

Achieving a healthy lifestyle will not only benefit us physically, but it’ll also give us a better mental health state. We’ve listed a few tips below to help you boost your immune system without breaking the bank.

Maintain a proper diet.

Eat food rich in antioxidants such as vitamins B6, C, and E. These are usually found in fruits and vegetables. As much as possible, avoid processed food. For snack time, swap your favorite junk foods with something nutritious, such as citrus fruits. Love carbonated drinks? Ditch that and replace it with water or fresh juice instead. Your body will thank you for doing so!

Exercise regularly.

While we all understand that it’s nearly impossible to have the luxury of time to go to the gym, there are plenty of workouts you can do at home, so there’s really no excuse! Before you start working, why not take your dog outside for a 30-minute walk? That way, you and your furry pal can get the exercise you need for the day! Get yourself a skipping rope and make it your goal to finish a set during your 15-minute breaks. It doesn’t have to be intense; you just have to be consistent.

Get adequate sleep.

Get Enough Sleep

Admit it, most of us yuppies are sleep-deprived. With most of us having messed up body clocks, sleep is just one of the luxuries we only get to afford on weekends. However, did you know that lack of sleep can increase your chances of getting sick? We get an increased risk of diabetes, heart diseases, and obesity with just a few hours of sleep! Let us not risk it. For adults, make sure you get 7 to 8 hours of good sleep every night. If you work the night shift, be consistent with your sleep schedule.

Get vaccinated.

Get Vaccinated

Vaccines are created to protect us from diseases. These are well-researched and developed by doctors, scientists, and medical professionals. Once available to you, get the recommended vaccines because they help your immune system fight off infections. Thankfully, COVID-19 vaccines are now available worldwide and are mostly free. Though it can’t 100% prevent you from contracting viruses, it’ll help you prevent yourself from getting severely ill. Apart from COVID-19 vaccines, you can take flu vaccines yearly to boost your immune system.

Take vitamins and supplements.

Eating highly nutritious foods is essential, but sometimes it’s not accessible when working from the office. Vitamins can help your immunity as well, so you might as well keep it handy. DOT backs call to cut quarantine of fully vaxxed travelers October 03, 2021 at 05:50PM

DOT backs call to cut quarantine of fully vaxxed travelers

Team Out of Town Blog Hub (www.outoftownblog.com) – “The Department of Tourism (DOT) stands squarely behind the call of President Duterte to shorten the quarantine period for fully vaccinated travelers. This is a crucial step towards the eventual resumption of international travel once our borders reopen, leading to the recovery of the pandemic-hit sector,” Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said.

The tourism chief said that the DOT has been pushing for this move since May 2021, thus the setting up of green lane circuits with countries that have zero to low COVID-19 transmission.

Based on the current guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), fully vaccinated inbound travelers that stayed exclusively in jurisdictions or countries classified under the “green list” for 14 days immediately prior to arrival in the Philippines qualify for seven-day facility-based quarantine. On the other hand, those coming from “yellow risk” jurisdictions, whether fully vaccinated or not, must undergo a ten-day facility-based quarantine and four-day home quarantine.

“This move to ease quarantine restrictions is also important to our kababayans who have been longing to be reunited with their families as the holiday season approaches. We also recognize the financial burden of isolating in hotels for a long period of time,” Puyat said.

“This is a welcome development that brings us closer to safely reopening our country to international travelers. Tourism had been a major driver of the Philippine economy until the pandemic shut down the global travel industry in 2020,” she added.

Puyat also reiterated that the strict implementation of the minimum health and safety protocols, such as mask-wearing and physical distancing measures, must remain in place.

“Again, we must emphasize that reopening our tourist destinations should not be at the expense of the health and safety of everyone concerned,” reminded Puyat.
