Philippines, one of the 40 Most Beautiful Countries in the World – CN Traveler
Travel Magazine Names Philippines as One of the Most Beautiful Countries in the World
The Philippines joins the list of the most beautiful countries in the world!
US-based luxury and travel magazine Conde Nast (CN) Traveler has named the Philippines one of the 40 most beautiful countries in the world, in an article they published in June 2022.
Countries that joined the ‘Most Beautiful’ list were recognized for their breathtaking natural wonders that locals and international tourists love. For the Philippines, three of our tourist destinations were specially mentioned. This includes Puerto Princesa in Palawan, Bohol, and the Cordilleras.
As mentioned by CN Traveler in its article, the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park’s “mangrove forests, impressive cave systems, and underground river” made the destination beautiful. True enough, its biodiversity was recognized and heralded as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 and the New 7 Wonders of nature in 2012. Its rich flora and fauna, decorated with striking limestone formations make this place an enchanting gem on Palawan island.
Another tourist destination CN Traveler mentioned is Bohol’s famous Chocolate Hills. This well-loved tourist destination is made of more than 1,200 majestic cone-shaped hills. They look like chocolate kisses during the dry season and are verdant green during the wet season. Seeing them in person is such a beautiful sight to see, especially when aboard a plane, where the view is better. If you happen to be in Bohol anytime soon, visit this tourist attraction that’s often called the eighth wonder of the world.
Lastly, CN Traveler mentioned the Banaue and Cordillera region, for its scenic and lush green rice terraces. Located up north, the Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, thus only fitting to be part of what makes the Philippines one of the world’s most beautiful countries. Comprised of Banaue’s Batad and Bangaan rice terraces, Mayoyao, Hungduan, and Nagacadan, these terraces are rice farms hand-built and maintained by Ifugao farmers. It has become a must-see attraction in the northern Philippines for its impressive landscape.
Other Asian countries which are included in the list are Vietnam, Turkey, Nepal, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, and Thailand, among others. The list was created based on the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report by the World Economic Forum. The criteria included total animal species, number of UNESCO World Sites, protected ecosystems, and personal picks of Traveler editors as well.
